1997 Questions for all other cars Two Wheel Drive Manual 47k miles

Hi - (peugeot 106 diesel )

Just had problems with starting. The car is diesel and took a while to start after pumping the accelerator. I thought it maybe the glow plugs but a local mechanic took it in and changed the fuel pump relay as it was burnt out. He has changed the fuel pump relay however it is still not starting correctlly and again the coil light on the dash is not coming on. After a brief discussion with him he suggests the relay he fixed maybe a dud and obviosuly needs to take second look. What could it be other than this. However all other electrical matters have been checked glow plugs are working ok. Etc

Hi furnoid,

If the glow plugs are working, are the power supply getting to them from the relay?

2 other things that might cause difficult starting.

1. Faulty idle cutoff switch.

2. Lack of compression.

Of course that is if the fuel pump and injectors are not faulty.
