1996 Questions for all other cars 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

hi there can you please help me on this one. i own a 1996 holden commodore vs station wagon, the car started fine this morning, i got to the shop turned car off as usual, i got back to the car, it started fine, but the radio & indicators weren't working. i got home turned car off (car engine stopped) i tried to start car again, all the lights & radio came on except for the engine, now my key just turns freely when in the ignition & lights on dash stay on unless battery disconnected. thanks in advance for your expertise with this one.
