I went to go somewhere the other day, and it has been bitterly cold here in Michigan latley, and I put my key in the ignition, and nothing, I opened the door and looked up at the dome light and , Nothing, the dash lights would not even light up. so I tried the key anyway, and nothing, it would not even turn the engine over, what can this be I want to say the battery but I do not want to fork out money for a new battery if it could be something else, there is no noise from the starter or anything, absolutley nothing!

Sure sounds like a battery, how old is it?

If the battery has caps, pry them off and chek for enough water in them, if low can try bringing the water to the proper level and charging it. May br frozen there by now though?

May also be a bad or dirty connection. Check all battery cable connection and cables for anything loose, corroded or dirty.

May also be a bad battery and.....?
