Hi. I have a 1989 Fleetwood Southwind 28' Class A Motorhome with a 454 Chevy Engine. On th last trip the "choke" light came on and stayed lit ever since (900 miles ago) Since then the RV needs more
gas I noticed, runs rougher, idles higher, lost some power as well and on top of it it backfires every now and then when I try to turn her off. Also, a few times aready when I turn the key to turn her
off, the engine keeps on running for a while. What can I do or check? I may have more problems (eg timing chain?) But all started with the choke light coming on. I should mention when the ligh came
on it had a little below zero temperatures outside, but it stayed lit ever since. (Now in FL) Had the Battery and Alternator checked, both are fine. Thanks

Hi, sounds like you auto choke stuck due to the cold. Remove your breather spray the choke on the carb and work it back and forth. When the eng is cold has not been run. Push accel down choke should close. Start eng as eng warms choke should open when eng is at operateing temp snap throttle choke should open fully. If so working ok if not adjustment or replacement will be required. All the symtoms you have mentioned are caused by this. Good luck billymac
