I would like to not get into why I removed the remote start, but that is all I have done, hopefully in completion but I cannot get the truck to start. It has been sitting for now over 8 months I would say. The original remote start was stolen out of my garage along with a lot of other things so I can't even just reinstall. But shouldn't it be able to be started with the key or what is going on here? I appreciate your help as always.

Hi,

Was the remote start an original equipment part or was it something that was installed aftermarket?

Also, what happens when you turn the key? Does the starter engage, and the engine not start or does the starter do nothing?

Let me know. Also, I really need to know what all has been worked on as far as the electronics.

Let me know.

Joe

It was aftermarket but I believe dealer installed. All I've done was clean up the whole harness for the vehicle. Replaced a few grounds that were rusted out, and was attempting on removing remote start completely so you would think it would still start with factory key still? Everything is put back together to the best of my knowledge I didn't get too deep. But definitely had a mess on my hands. When I turn the key the message center lights up, I believe dome lights come on etc. Keep in mind I do have the hood open too. I probably should close it. I don't know. I don't know where to turn but me and my girl have this vehicle paid off and summer is starting. Three kids. She works a lot and that's been rough. Finding rides for 8 months when She has always taken truck or had me to take her in. It's parked where I parked it. Runs great and now, ugh. I hear some clicks under the hood when I turn the key other than that just silence. Headlights and everything seem to work with key in and on.

Hi,

Do me a favor. Check to see if the clicks you hear are coming from the relay box or the starter. Let me know.

From the relays in the TIPM I would say. I'm working alone here so bear with me. Sorry. But it really, I think, would sound more like its coming from underneath if it was the starter, it sounds higher and closer to me than that.

Also. Just thought you may like to know this also. I tested the battery voltage as it sits, 12.8v. More than sufficient to start, correct? Just so I know I'm good there?

Hi,

Regardless of the battery voltage, if there is a weak connection, it can cause this. By chance, could you get a helper to turn the key to start while you check for voltage at the smaller wire on the starter motor?

Let me know.
