Please help,
Just bought this car, was running great, started overheating. Went to a mechanic and he changed the radiator, still overheated!! Brought it back, he said that there was leaks on the mantifold, he patched them up.

Still overheats, about 10 minutes into driving, fine on freeway. But it gets hot really fast and stays hot unless I go really fast. The heater takes a really long time to work.

Thinking its the thermostat? how do I change it? dont really have any more money for mechanic. Or maybe its the water pump? how do I change that?

HOpe all is well and I appreciate ur help.

Start the with the thermostat then test the water pump.

One way to test for a bad water pump is to squeeze the upper radiator hose when the engine is hot and idling. Careful, because the hose will be HOT! If you do not feel much coolant circulating through the hose when you rev the engine, the pump may be bad. The other cause might be a bad thermostat that is not opening properly (remove and inspect the thermostat), or a clogged radiator.
