Hi acura1905,
Thermostat is located inside the housing connecting the lower radiator hose to the engine.
When engine overheats,
1. Check if there is enough coolant in the radiator system.
2. Check if the fans are working.
Thermostats seldom gives way out of the blue, usually only happens after any overheating had occurred.
