Six cylinder front wheel drive manual 220,000 miles

this car has done this since we got it. we have replaced the EICU, basic tune up. Fuel pressure regulator.

The "main relay" was supposedly reputable shop?

Car runs rough when cold, but after is warms it runs out smooth and great.

bit of a tapping or clicking noise. perhaps injectors?

another forum suggested main relay or "fuel pump relay"?

I will re-visit both of those issues?

If your have any idea's I thank you in advance.

Kevin

Hello,

On the tune that you preformed what components did you replace?

Typical tune up consists of changing the oil, fuel filter, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, wires. Also cleaning of throttle body. Keep in mind that any of the ignition component can give you rough idle at startup.

Other possibility is a vacuum leak. On cold startup the leak will exist but as the components warms up the leak goes away due to expanding components.
Check all the vacuum lines. Look for any cracks or broken hoses.
You can also test for vacuum leak in the intake manifold. This can be done by spraying carb cleaner to the base of the intake manifold (with the engine running). If there is a leak the engine will react by raising the RPM till the chemical is burnt off.

Here is a helpful guide:

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
