As I was driving down the road, the tach went to 0 rpm and will not start again.

Does the engine turn over?

OR does nothing happen when you turn the key?

Yes the engine does turn over. I also removed the breather and sprayed ether in the intake while turnning the engine over. It never hit or tried to start.

Turns over means it isn't electrical, but performance.

Okay so fuel is out unless it is in combination with spark or compression cycles based on the ether. Unless it is getting too much, but you would smell that.

On a hunch I want you to crank the engine over and decide if it is spinning over faster than normal. Make sure the battery is brought to full charge first. If so we may have a timing issue.
