One day, I went out to my car in the morning and it just would not start. I had it towed to a dealership and they told me it was the distributor and it would cost me roughly $350. I decided to purchase the distributor by myself and install it on my car. After installation, I tested each spark plug to make sure I was getting spark, which I was. So I figured my problem wasn't the spark anymore. I also smelled gas when the car was turning over, but figured I'd check the fuel rail for gas anyways. So i took the fuel rail off and removed the injectors. Sure enough, gas spilled out of it. What could be the problem if the engine turns over, I found gas in the fuel rail, and I have spark? I looked for a picture of the firing order for my distributor and am pretty sure i have the right one. Please help!

All of the plugs are getting spark. I tried adjusting the distributor and it did not work still. The distributor is keyed so that you cannot put it in wrong. Maybe something wrong with my timing or compression? What would I need to do in these instances to get it working again?

if you have spark and it is strong, right? Then you have either got the plugs on in the wrong order or you have another issue. i have seen the crankshaft position sensor allow spark but it is not is the proper order for the engine to fire. Does the engine sound like it wants to pop and start? Check the fire order again and make sure.

The car turns over and sounds like it wants to hit. I can hear and feel the tail pipe expelling little puts. Could it be that I just have too weak of a spark and need to change the plugs?

i think you have the right firing order for the plugs but you do not have the number one plug wire on the correct post of the distributor cap. I would say that you are one a quarter of a rotation off. Try moving the wires one terminal left or right and fire the engine.
