After traveling a short distance( roughly 10 miles) my Integra will downshift by itself to second gear when it is in Drive or S4 position.
This used to happen very infrequentlly in D4 (did it for a half second then went to 4th). But now it's getting worse. Now when it happens it's hard to get it out of second gear. Have you hear of this before?

Hi esjhj,

Is the S4 or any other indicator lights showing or blinking? Any system or component not functioning? Eg, speedometer etc.

I swapped a transmission control unit from another Integra that I owned without any help. I think the problem was just in the cable with the stop mechanism between gears(detents?) It seemed too easy to shift between gears. I noticed that sometimes park wouldn't engage properly. I guess that I was giving the transmission controller the wrong on-offs to tell what gear it should be in. Strangely enough I was getting so disgusted that I was just sitting there shifting between park and S2 continuously when something happened that it corrected itself. Now every gear has a definite stop and the problem went away for now?

Hi esjhj,

At least you know where to look when the problem reoccurs.

Most probably the shift lever rollers got stuck and now is free after you tried shifting up and dwn continuously.
