Help, my brake lights are stuck on. I had a new cat. Converter and oxygen sensor installed last week in an effort to pass G.A. State emissions, and now my brake lights are stuck on. I can pump my brakes and the light stays on, even after I take my keys out. Can someone please give some DIY advise? Also, My battery has been going dead while parked lately, I assume because of the lights stuck on, but last night my car died while idling. After a jump start I drove about 15 miles at highway speed, and it died at a stop light?

Hi pmark,

When the brakelights stays on, it can drain the battery. The brakelights stayinmg on is most likely to be due to the brake switch staying in the ON position.
At the brake pedal, there is a stopper for closing the brake switch and most lileky it has disintegrated due to it being plastic based and would crumble over time.

You need to install a new stopper to rectify.

As to the stalling, seems the idling system is malfunctioning. Get the throttle body and Idle Air Control valve cleaned and retest.
