Can the EGR valve be cleaned? The "check engine" light came on and the code indicated "EGR flow" problem. Short of replacement, can the EGR be cleaned? Thanks in advance.

yes .. you can try removing and cleaning the EGR valve

It worked. I removed the unit and thoroughly cleaned it...I used an air hose and decarbonized with a small wire brush and non-clorinated parts cleaner. Works fine now..."check engine" light is off.
