Electric seats not working?

Hi, I have a Sport model with a maual passenger seat and purchase a electric passenger seat from a 2013 Honda Accord EX-L 4 cylinder engine. Would you be able to help me rewire from the manual seat to the plugins for the electric? What I'm thinking is all I would have to do is add 2 power lines with 20 amp fuses from the fuse block to the 2 switches for forward and back and tilt forward and back. This seat doesn't have the other functions that the drivers seat does which is why I wanted to do this. Honda passenger seats suck in every way. If it's not feasible I'll throw the electric one away and suffer on my 3,000 mile trip in October. Thanks, Phil

Hello,

That is correct. The two power wires coming into pins #4 and 10 of the Power Seat Connector are both 20A fused circuits. You will also need to run ground wires from pins #2 and 8 of the Power Seat Connector to a ground. You can use a self tapping screw and make your own, just make sure all the paint is removed where you are placing the ground, to make good metal to metal connection, a toothed star washer would be preferred(not a necessity), but ring connectors for the wires are required. Also a little dielectric grease will help prevent corrosion from building up on the ground. In the diagrams down below I have included all the information that you will need. Hi, I would like to find out if I could take a electric passenger side front seat from a salvaged car and replace my manual seat. Would the electrical wiring be there and would the parts off of my cloth seat fit on the salvaged seat? Thanks you guys offer a great service and is greatly appreciated!

Car is the Sport model.

Good morning,

The wires may or may not be there. It would be a 2 wire plug that would attach to the switch on the side of the seat.

You will have one issue. The airbag light will come on as the system will have to be reprogrammed for the other seat. It would be programmed for the junk car. A dealer will need to perform this operation so your airbag system will function correctly.

The mountings should be the same. The rest is good. You will use the seat as you got it from the junkyard.

Front passenger seat too low for wife. Only 4 way adj but not up. Can front passenger seat be raised? Dealer told me no, but was unsure.

Yes you can make the seat higher by unbolting the seat and building tube extensions with longer bolts for the rear and flat plate extensions in the front.

Interior problem
2006 Honda Accord 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 17k miles

I've had my car in the shop for ages as the mechanics were looking for a refurbished cloth seat to replace the previous cloth manual seat. However, when the seat was delivered, it was a POWER seat (heated, forward/back, up/down, airbags & seatbelt sensor).

The mechanics connected all the electrical leads but the seat is completely unresponsive, and the airbag warning indicators flash from time to time. The seat is currently in the full upright position, and as far forward as possible, making it impossible for anyone over 4 feet tall to squeeze in.

Is there something that I can do without taking it in to Honda to get the seat working? Or at least adjusted to a position where a human might fit in it? Honda is asking for $120 / hour in labor, even if they just inspect the vehicle.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

The original seat was manual, which had the levers to make it move forward and back. I've checked all the leads and there is one female adaptor on the seat but no male wire harness. Any suggestions?

The wiring is rather simple for the powered seats and there are 2 types, 8-way adjustable or 2-way adjustable.

I guessed yours should be 8-way and here are the wiring schematics and you should be able to hook them up.

Honda Accord EX 2005 60K miles.

OK the pain is enough! After driving > 20 mins, I am in pain for the next hour in the hips and butt area. (I'm 5'10", 195 lbs, fairly normal proportions, no back problems, history, injuries, chiropractic visits. Nothing.)

But Honda has designed the 2005 Accord EX driver's seat so poorly. Something has to change. (And, yes, I've tried everything: Lumbar support, every angle you can imagine, pillows, cushions, repositioning my legs. Everything). No problem with any other car, even my other Hondas.

So. I am thinking of replacing the seat with a third-party seat. Can anyone provide any tips or suggestions or experiences?

And yes, I know it has to be done super-well because of the Safety implications.

I am not sure when the change came about with seat design but I would first consider looking at other Honda seats to replace it with.

I am having exactly the same problem for exactly the same reason with my '07 Accord. I actually bought a salvage power seat from an 05, hoping to swap it in and reupholster the whole car. As it turns out, though, the custom shop that was going to do the install, and assured me that it would be no big deal, now tells me that there is something different about the wiring harness to the side airbag from '05 to '07, so he can't use this seat in my car.

Do you have any interest in this one? (It's grey and in pretty good condition.) According to my custom guy, it should work in an '05, but I can't guarantee it. Now I have to go look for an '07 seat. Sigh.

'05 Honda Accord Coupe. Power driver's seatback will come forward, but won't recline. Makes a clicking noise - don't see anything to prevent it from going backwards. Also, power passenger window does not work.

MOTOR TEST
DRIVER'S 8-WAY ADJUSTABLE POWER SEAT
1. Remove the driver's seat.

2. Disconnect the 12P connector (A) from the power seat adjustment switch (B).

3. Test each motor by applying battery voltage and body ground to the terminals.

4. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, check for an open in the driver's seat wire harness between the 12P connector and each motor connector. If the harness is OK, replace the motor.

DRIVER'S 2-WAY ADJUSTABLE POWER SEAT
1. Remove the driver's seat.

2. Disconnect the 5P connector (A) from the power seat adjustment switch (B).

3. Test the motor (C) by applying battery voltage to the 5P connector No. 2 (or No. 4) and ground to the No. 4 (or No. 2) terminals. The motor should run.

4. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, check for an open in the wire between the 5P connector and the motor 2P connector. If the harness is OK, replace the motor.

my drivers seat was extended back to far and now it will not come back up. You can hear the motor engage and the gears want to move just a fraction then stop either way. I tried pushing on the back while pushing the button forward but in wont move.

You will have to remove the seat and motor and adjust seat manually, replace the limit switch ressemble with seat in middle position, attach motor.

My passenger seat has gotten stuck in a constant swivel, so it doesn't lock into place. Also, it doesn't move all the way back now. The door can still lean forward to let people into the back, but it can't hold still. How do I fix this?

Hi there,

You will have to unbolt the seat from the floor and remove it from the car, have a good look at the base and make sure that nothing has jambed the locking lever and causing this problem, start here.

The car has a 6-way power driver side seat. The power seat tilt back button just stopped working. I had used it yesterday to tilt the seat back all the way back and then return it to the upright position. The other button is working fine, the button that tilts the seated portion. I assume that there are two separate motors. I can hear it kind of click, like the seat wants to move but is stuck so I assume the seat motor is getting power. However, I can see nothing to block or jam the seat in the full upright position.

Is there anything I can check prior to taking it to a dealer? I'm flat broke but the seat is fully upright and makes it slightly uncomfortable for me to drive. I'd like to get an idea what something like this would cost to repair, assuming worse case scenario of a faulty seat motor.

Hi shorething,

The seat motors have the tendency to stick when it is moved to the extreme, ie fully up or down and you need to juddr the motor with a fes knocks and it should work. Otherwise you would need to turn the motor gear slightly and ti would work again.
