2010 Ford Mustang Steering Wheel Loose

When pulling out of a parking spot, I hit a curb with the front right of my 2010 Ford Mustang (under 5 mph), but it seems like it may have hit a bad place on the car. Right under the bumper, a piece of plastic came loose. But more concerning, the steering wheel now seems to turn with very little resistance, and can turn a full 360 degrees.

If anyone has an idea of what might be wrong it would be much appreciated.

Are you saying that the steering wheel just keeps turning?

That's right.

The wheels of the car still respond to the steering wheel, but now the steering wheel turns much more easily and can just keep turning in a full circle.

Thanks a lot for your help - really appreciate it. Do you think this is a serious problem (any rough estimate on the cost to get it fixed?)

I will have a better idea after doing a bit of research, just to clarify, you have NO steering and the steering wheel can turn continuously with out stopping,

I am still able to drive the car (e.G. When I turn the steering wheel right, the car turns right).

But now, the steering wheel can turn continuously without stopping.

Thank you again.

I can't find any pics or the steering system, but if the steering wheel is rotating without turning the wheels, the coupling that joins the steering column and the steering rack must be broken, or there has been a failure with in the steering rack itself with the pinion drive.
