2008 Volvo S80 Repair Question

Volvo S80 Rpm Problem
The rpm is a little high but it still under 1000 rpm,,it doesnt do it all the time ,,it comes and goes,,why?

try cleaning the throttle plate with choke cleaner first on both sides. they get gummy .
