2008 Suzuki Vitara Sudden loss of power

This fault started several weeks ago, accelerating up a hill the car dropped into limp mode, the diagnostic light came on. Restarting the engine cleared this and the car returned to normal.

I went to the garage, boost pressure sensor was replaced. This didn't solve the problem.

During the same period of time the DPF light became very active. The garage suggested after some extensive testing that this was the only part that hadn't been replaced.

So I've had the DPF removed and the ECU remapped. Perfect - driving better. Problems solved or so I thought.

Yesterday on the motorway the car dropped power overtaking a car. Mimicking the same symptoms as before but without the warning light. Obviously it went straight back to the garage where they are now replacing the fuel filter. There were no engine faults recorded and I'm now at a bit of a loss as to whats causing it.

Any ideas?

I think they are missing the issue. The fly by wire system is failing and goes to a pre set mode. When you turn off the car and start it up, it re sets itself till the fault happens again. It is either the throttle body failing or the pedal sensor that contains the module as well. I would go to another shop that has a better idea on the failure. They are in the wrong area.

If it was one of those, would it flag up as an error code?

Yes it will but might not show up on a code reader but will with a real scan tool.
