The shift lock sticks about half the time. The vehicle has the CVT automatic transmission. When this problem happens I have to use the shift lock override feature to shift from park into gear. The problem does not happen every time and seems to be a switch not activating or sticking. What are the possible causes and fix for this problem?

Thanks,
Russ

Have the brake switch and circuit checked. When problem occurs, check if the brake lights are working.

The brake lights work every time. How do I remove the shift lever cover to check the relay under the shift column.

Thanks

We do not have the information in our database so I am only able to make a a generic recommendation.

You need to remove whatever cover that is blocking access and these are usually held in position by screws along the edges. Some clips are most probably used as well and you need to pry them off.
