I have a 2008 Nissan Altima with a little over 39K on it. Lately I have noticed that when the car sits out in the sun for awhile it will make a weird scrubbing sound after it starts up. What is the cause of that?

You need to be more specific than that.

Where is the noise coming from?
Does it cnange/increase in intensity with engine speed?
Does it go away after engine warms up?

It only does it right after the car starts up. It only lasts like 2 seconds. My dad used to have an old 80's Altima and sometimes if you didn't know it wa already on and tried to crank it again it made a grinding sound... that's kinna what it sounds like to me. I hope this helps.

If it is grinding noise, it most probably is the starter overrunning clutch returning slow. If that uis the case, you need to have the starter serviced.
