2008 Mercury Milan Soft brakes

My abs activated when I hit the brakes in the rain, ever since then my brakes have been soft. They went all the way to the floor until I pumped them and now they are just softer than normal. This happens everytime my abs turns on but normally after a few hours they go back to normal. Why would they still be soft?

Typically if your brake pedal ever feels soft you have air in the system. You can try bleeding the brakes, and see if that helps bring it to normal.

Their was air in the lines but that didn't fix it.

Ok, On some vehicles it's necessary to have a scan tool to bleed the ABS unit.
