I was watching your video on spark plugs for this vehicle. Is there anything I should unplug or detach that is electrical within the car before doing spark plugs? Such as a battery, sensors, etc. And if I disconnect the battery should I only take the negative off or the positive terminal as well? Just trying to be precautious. Thanks!

I have a 2004 hyundai sonata with 180000 miles on it 5spd 4cyl. The problem it has is that ever time I accelerate I see electricity coming out of the plastic boot of my spark plugs. I replaced the plastic boot but now it sparks even more. What could be wrong? I appreciate any help. THANK YOU :)

If you mean the plastic boot of the plug wire or ignition coil, when you have a bad wire, arcing would occur. Bad spark plugs could be the cause as well.

You shouldn't need to replace the plug boots unless they are damaged or the wires are bad.

To replace the plugs, start at one end of the engine, pull up on the plug wire boot to remove it from the plug, then use a spark plug socket and extension to remove the plug. Examine the plug for any problems. Now check the gap on the new plug, adjust as required (the plug number and gap will be on the emissions sticker under the hood) install it into the head and tighten it down. If the boot is damaged you simply follow that wire back and remove it, select the same sized wire from the new set and install it in reverse of the way you removed it.
