Charge light illuminated. Checked all batt cables and connections on alt, everything ok. Ran out of time, went to bed. Next morning, started engine, no charge light. Drove to work, (about 15 mins) ans just as I got there, charge light illuminated again. After work, engine started fine, drove home, but charge light illuminated the whole time. Checked batt voltage running and not running, 11.75 VDC in both conditions. Suspect alternator, but is there something else I should check first?

It sounds like the alt. Running, it should be around 14v. Have the alt tested at a parts store. Most will do it for free. If it is good, then I would suspect a bad fusible link between the alt and the battery.

Let me know what you find.
