Jerking motions when you step on gas

So when I was on my way home my engine light came on there was no issue right away, then when I got to a street light I stopped when I pressed down on the pedal started******** then I lightly pressed down on the pedal slowly got up to 60 if I went down on it to hard started******** again. When I got home I check tranny fluid was good to go. I took it for a drive again it was not doing it anymore but light is still on any thoughts

It sounds like the engine started missing. This can be caused by many things. What I need you to do is have the computer scanned. Most parts stores will do it for free. If the light was flashing, there will be a trouble code stored in the computer that will identify where the problem was coming from.
