Pontiac Grand Prix Check engine light Problem

The weather has been very cold the past several days and I have never had a problem with my car starting. Last night, it started but died on me about 1/2 a block of driving, the monitor on my car said charging system failed.. I then got my car started again and it died two more times. I put some Iso-Heet in my fuel tank and it started right up just fine. The next day my car started fine before work, the weather was not as cold as the night before but it was a rough start and my car acted like it did not want to stay started. My check engine light is now on. Can anyone tell me whats going on?
