The tank was half full, I filled it up on Tuesday afternoon and went straight home, and didn't move the vehicle until Wednesday morning. When I started the vehicle it was on empty and the fuel light was on. What makes this happen?

How far did you drive from the time you filled up until you got home?
How much gas did you put in the tank? (Gallons)
what was the price, per gallon of the gasoline?
What's the outside temperature overnight where you are?

Do you smell gas when you enter of exit the vehicle or when it is running? (Possible leak)
Has this ever happened before?
Do you suspect that someone took it?

I put in $42 dollars of gas (10 gallons) the outside temp was 65 degrees. And I only drove about 3 miles home. There was no smell of gas. This has never happened before and no I don't think anyone took it

Good. Chances are you have a faulty fuel guage.

I'll need you email address to send you info on diagnosing/repairing the gauge/sending unit.
