2007 Jeep Patriot Repair Question

What causes the ac compressor to stay kicked on even when inside vehicle is turned off
Ac not turned on but compressor still kicks in. there is a knocking noise like something falling apart. temperature stays in middle all time.

your clutch may have siezed for the a/c have a pro check it out.
