I have a jeep patriot 07 2.5 crd I had to jack it up there was a noise from the wheel usually you can spin the wheel when jacked off the ground I then could hear it?

When I pull the 4wd lever and the light goes out if I jack it off the ground at the front should I be able to spin the wheels.

EMERGENCY BRAKE ON?

I DON'T KNOW A LOT ABOUT YOUR RIG

IS IT IN OR OUT OF 4WD WHEN YOU DO THIS SPINNING?

ANY SPECIFIC SIDE, FRONT OR REAR, WHERE THE NOISE WAS EMITTING FROM?

CAN YOU DESCRIBE OR COMPARE THE NOISE TO SOMETHING ELSE WITH A SIMILAR SOUND?

PUT IT ON 4 JACK-STANDS

FIRE 'IM UP IN 2WD AND SEE IF THE FRONT TURNS TOO!

LIKE I SAID I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT YOUR RIG--IMMA CJ KINDA GUY, I DO MY BESTUS, WHEN I ANSWER IN THE 5 AND 7 FORUMS!

DOES YOUR RIG HAVE LOCKING OR SELF LOCKING HUBS THAT MIGHT BE STUCK?

4 STANDS---BE SAFE

BELOW IS A PIC FROM WHEN I SNATCHED MY TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE.I REBUILT THE ENTIRE TRANNY WITH ALL NEW PARTS---LESS THE CASE. ONE OF THE NEW SYNCHRONIZERS WAS MACHINED WRONG. IT WOULD SHIFT, BUT MADE AN EVIL NOISE. I PULLED IT AND RE-INSTALLED IT SEVEN TIMES (TO INCLUDE TOTAL DISASSEMBLY 5 OF THOSE TIMES) BEFORE WE FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM. VINTAGE JEEPS DID SEND ME GOOD REPLACEMENT PARTS, BUT THE LABOR AND HAIR PULLIN' WAS ALL ON ME!

WIFEY WAS AT WORK EACH TIME WE USED THE "INDOOR TRANNY BENCH"
