My wifes jeep is making a winding sound when I let off the excelorator, any ideas what the cause is?

Need some more info on this. Where is the whining from?Front, rear? Ileft, right? Does it happen all the time, or intermittantly? Ive seen alternator clutch pulleys cause this, but I dont want to jump to conclusions.
