2007 Hyundai Tuscon Repair Question

Topics covered: Engine, Body, Dealer.
Mileage: 89,000 miles.

Asked on August 17, 2012

Is it possible that the issue described below is due to the accident?

A couple of weeks ago, my 2007 Hyundai Tuscon was rear-ended, causing extensive body damage. When I went to pick up the car today, the engine made a loud "valve" noise that I didn't have prior to the accident. It remains in the shop to determine the problem. Is it likely the collision caused this?

Thanks,

Should not be related but if repair took some time, it could be the hydraulic valve lifters that are noisy and some running might resolve the problem.

Thanks. Dealer just called, and advised oil didn't circulate normally, since the car wasn't driven for 17 days. They changed the oil twice, and claim all is well. Won't know for sure till I pick up the car tonight.

As I suspected, so it should not be anything to worry about.

Have a great weekend.
