My check engine light came on and I stopped by Auto Zone and they said it was the Evaporative Vent Valve Purge Solenoid. They reset the light.

Bad move. The light should never be reset till the problem is diaged properly by a tech, not a part salesman. There is vital freeze frame data there that will assist the tech checking it. You need a shop with a scan tool, smoke machine and voltmeter to determine the failure.

Yes, it is safe to drive. The part name is incorrect. There is a pruge valve and there is a vent solenoid

The parts "BOY" wrote it down
Evaporative vent valve purge solenoid.
