Ford Mustang Dealer Problem

When driving the car there can be a hesitation that happens all of a sudden and then it may be another10 minutes before it happens again. Last night while driving home a light showing a wrench appeared on the instrument panel. In the book it shows that the symbol is for the electonic throttle control. It states that the symbol illuminates when the engine has defaulted to a "limp-home" operation. Report the fault to a dealer at the earliest opportunity.
How serious is this and what has to be done?
