Chevrolet Colorado Engine Problem

My "checkengine" light was on this morning so, I checked my oil and it was at normal level. However, there was a "milky," whitish goo on the end of the stick. The engine is not running abnornally or hot. Can I drive this truck to my mechanic 12 miles away ?

There's over a thousand things that can set a diagnostic fault code and about half of them will result in the Check Engine light turning on. Oil level is not one of those things. The light must turn on when the problem detected could have an adverse affect on emissions. As long as the light is not flashing you can drive it to the repair shop. Their starting point will be to read the stored code(s). They will indicate the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis.
