Why can I not open my car's trunk with the remote keyless fog nor with the trunk release button in the glove compartment? The key will open it.
On cold mornings the trunk can not be opened with the remote keyless fog nor the trunk release button located in the glove compartment and when it is opened with the trunk's key the trunk light doesn't come on. Later in the day the remote keyless fog will open the trunk and the trunk light does come on.

Check to see if there is power to the release mechanism in the trunk.

There doesn't seem to be power to the release mechanism. When the key fog is pressed the release mechanism is not activated, but later it works fine. What would prevent power to the release mechanism? Thanks.

Since it works sometimes, it can't be a fuse. My first guess is a bad ground to the circuit. It could also be a broken or damaged wire.
