Would you recommend a 1.9 tdi jetta. I heard bad reports about them.

They are good cars and good engines if they have been maintained. The injectors are quite expensive as you have to buy a full set to get them. High mileage car are not a good idea, as all these parts wear and when they have to be repaired the are not cheap. Thanks for using2CarPros
