2005 Saturn Ion 2 Sedan, when the AC is turned on the car has a fluctuation while idling, the temperature raises in the engine occasionally, and the car makes a growling noise when accelerating. When the AC is off, the car performs fine.

When the engine is shut off see if the center of the a/c compressor pulley turn's freely?Also pop the belt off and spin the outer part of the pulley and see if you can hear or feel any grinding.
