I have a 2005 Jaguar X-type 3.0 litre AWD 61K miles. This afternoon, it wouldn't start. When I turned it on, the dash lights flickered randomly, there were clicking and hissing sounds. That was before I tried to crank the engine, when nothing actually happened. A few times The clicking sounds even continued after I took the key out. Is this due to a bad ignition switch?

Start by checking your battery and the connections well . Clean and tighen them. The first check of a no crank problem will start @ the battery state of charge. Do this first

I have an 05 x-type sport and the same exact issue happened this morning!!!

The battery is new. I stick the key in and flickering and a few lights come and it won't start. The alarm does not work. It hasn't in a while. It will occasionally. So, my trunk is locked and I cannot open it. I will remove battery and replace it clean it up and see what happens.

Please advise!!!

Thanks!
