Loud Engine Rattle

There are a few issues

1. When starting the car from a cold start it makes a rattle from 30 sec or so then it slowly disappears, but the engine light is on. If I turn the car off then back on, because the car is warm it makes no noise and the engine light turns off.

2. When the car is started any revving even up to 1000 RPM the rattling starts, It gets louder and more pronounced as you rev harder. It sounds like it is coming from the top end of the engine near the inlet manifold. I have researched that the rattle will be fixed with a ECM software update, and to make sure that is the problem to unplug the VGIS and see if the rattle stops if it does then that's the issue. I think I unplugged the VGIS but I cant be sure I don't know where it is, I randomly unplugged things but I cant be sure.

Any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

This sounds like you have a oil pump pickup that is clogged. This will make the engine rattle on the top end as you are describing.

I would check the oil level first then insert a manual gauge into the oil pressure sender port to check the pressure.

Please let us know what happens.

The rattle gets a lot louder as you rev and does not disappear when it is a running temperature. So I had the oil pressure checked and you where right the oil sump was plugged to the dickens. All fixed now thank you so much you guys are great!
