Hi I have a 2005 ford focus ZXW and I am having a electrical wiring problem, Which was a electrical fire under my steering colomb, which I have narrowed down to the wire harness which is connected to the headlight control and where it leads im not sure as I only have the harness disconnected at the healight switch thus far, My question is How long of a wiring harness is this. I am trying to figure this out on my own as I have been told by the garage this could run me around $1500 to fix, I am a 42 yo female who has taken this on myself as I know us women sometimes get taken advatage of at the garage and I have it set in my mind I will fix this myself then have it programmed at the dealer. Thank you in advance Christine Vermont!

The problem with a fire or burnt harness is they short out and cause damage to other parts of car like the ecm and if that is shot you are looking at another ecm at least. If you have insurance on this you should contact them to see if it's covered under insurance first. If not you'll need the harness that will go to block at firewall and that could be the whole harness under dash. As far as cost you have to go to dealer to find out what the cost as well as part number is. Or you can go to a junk yard and get one there. Just a fair warning this is NOT AN EASY FIX. You may be better off to let teh insurance company replace this or scrap it. You really need aperson that knows what they aredoing to fix this.
