Dodge Neon Check engine light Problem
I have a 2005 dodge neon sxt, automatic and it will not shift out of first gear when driving, I have had the rpm gauge read all the way up to 5000 rpms without it switching to second gear

It sounds like it is in limp mode. Is the check engine light on? If so, have the computer scanned to identify trouble codes.

Yes the check engine light is on

Have the computer scanned. It will identify trouble codes that will let you know what the problem is. Most parts stores will scan them for free if you can get it there.
