I am asking for my dad so I am not exactly sure what problems his car has since I don't drive that one. His check engine light came on a while back and when he took it to get checked out; it came out as a bad O2 sensor, his mechanic said his car had 2 sensors and both needed to get replaced. He got both replaced and the light went off for about 3 days and then it came back on. The code is the same, bad O2 sensor. How can this be? The car is running fine, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it besides the pesky light. Why would the light still be on despite having the sensors replaced.

PLEASE READ THIS LINK

HAVE IT CODED AGAIN---THIS TIME GET THE EXACT NUMBERS---THEY WILL BE LIKE: "P0265" OR "P0171" (JUST MADE UP EXAMPLES)----POST 'EM TO US, SHOULD YOU NOT GET 'EM FIGURED OUT MORE CORRECTLY

SOMETIMES STUFF LIKE "LEAN ON BANK ONE" CAN BE INTERPRETED DIFFERENTLY---AS TO WHAT TO DO TO MAKE IT "NOT LEAN"

SOME FOLKS MIGHT WOULD SAY IT NEEDS AN O2 SENSOR--OTHERS MIGHT SAY YOU GOTTA VACUUM LEAK---YET ANOTHER MIGHT SAY THE INJECTOR IS MESSED UP-------------MANY CODES ARE SIMILAR, BUT THE FIX MIGHT BE TOTALLY DIFFERENT

THE BEST SITE I HAVE FOUND TO INTERPRET STUFF IS THIS ONE

http://www.obd-codes.com/p0442

YOU ARE PROBABLY BETTER CYBER ORIENTED THAN I AM.......SO BELOW IS SORTA BASIC

------IN LINK ABOVE----ERASE THE "P0442"-----THEN INSTALL YOU CODES (ONE AT A TIME)

THIS SITE WILL GIVE YOU "CAUSES" AND "POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS"

KEEP US POSTED ON PROGRESS---OTHERS WHO ARE MORE FAMILIAR MAY JUMP IN AND OFFER MORE INPUT
