Has a heavy rattle/knocking noise

My 05 Chevy equinox has a heavy rattle/knocking noise that can be felt in the steering wheel at all speeds and is more pronounced on uneven or pitched pavement. I'm thinking maybe it is a lower control arm issue. If there is a cross breeze on the highway, the noise gets louder and the rattle becomes VERY noticeable in the steering wheel. My wife likes to say that it sounds like the front end is about to fall off.

It sounds like you have an upper or lower control arm bushing issue, although the sway bar links can cause this sound as well

Really very helpful. I already though about he control arms but never thought to look at the sway bar end links, and sure enough one was completely shot, so I replaced both of them and the problem is fixed.

Actually useful input, nice work 2Carpros. Com!

Interesting. I believe you guys responded to my question for me! There were no issues whatsoever with the sway bar end links or control arms. The issue was simply bad struts.
