My car has started making a humming like noise. It is mechanical sounding noise. That's the best I can describe this noise but it seems to happen when I travel at speeds above 35 mph and the sound seems to be coming under the hood, I can hear it as if it were right behind the area where the radio is located What could be the possible cause of this?

Does it change at all when turning left or right? If so suspect possible wheel bearing noise.

Can you determine if the sound changes with vehicle speed. You say it starts at 35mph, but what happens after 35? Does the frequency of the noise change as the vehicle speed increases. What about turning the A/C compressor off, does the noise go away?

The sound stays the same at different speeds. After 35 it continues most of the time I'm 60-65 when traveling to work on the highway and that is when it is most noticeable. I've turned the A/C compressor off and it still occurs. It also doesn't change as the wheel is turn. When the sound occurs it lasts for just a few seconds then it happens every few minutes to maybe 30 minutes. I have a check engine light on which read to be P0430, would this maybe pertain to the problem?

The noise still occurs as the vehicle accelerates as so when the a/c is not on. Only happens while accelerating. And the it doesn't change with the turning of the wheel to the left or right. It's more of an intermittent noise and occurs every couple of minutes.
