2004 Suzuki Forenza Recently Bought This Now Only High Beam Lights Work Low

I recently bought this suzuki forenza and now only the high beam lights work but not the low deams, I heard this is a common problem with this type of cars. I want to know what should I check for and how can I go onto fixing this problem?
