Mercury Mountaineer Transmission Problem
What is the part called that goes on the side of the transmission on the linkage cable that is shaped like a horseshoe?

it 's a clip of sometype either an e clip available at auto stores or it may be part of the cable and only availabe at dealer.

Are you referring to a large electrical part? That would be the transmission range sensor.
