Black powder emits only when the vehicle is started after switching off for some time

My Mazda van is emmiting black powder in the mornings and when the vehicle is started after a long rest. The black powder does not emit when the vehicle is in use or running

i would speculate it is running to rich at cold start ups.

The aircleaner may be blocked, you should try removing and cleaning the element. also check for obstructions in air intake.
Otherwise the auto choke is not working properly and should be re- adjusted
