I have a kia 2004 2.7 diesel tray back and it's having major problems starting and when I get it started it runs very rough and blows blue grey smoke. As soon As you try an accelerate it stalls. You have to keep pumping the primer button on fuel filter to keep it going buts it's very rough and lots of blow by smoke when ya take off oil cap. I had a mobile mechanic look at it and he said it was a blown cylinder and needed full rebuild but I keep thinking it has to do with fuel it's only done 160000km and I did not thinks diesel would start if engine was blown. Can some one please shed some light on this for me as its doing my head in. Thanks simon

If you need to keep pumping the manual primer pump, there is a possibility of air leaks into the delivery line. This would result in air in fuel system and the rough idling.
To test, replace the hoses between fuel filter and fuel pump with transparent vinyl hoses and start engine. Note if air bubbles are present when engine is running.
