I am a rural carrier, do lots of stop and go, after bout 2hrs my transmission temp light comes on. Why is that and what to do to fix it

I would first confirm the integrity of the temperature sensor, then I would check for an obvious reason such as blocked airflow across the transmission cooler, then I would search for similar history from a factory database.
