I have a 2004 V6 Honda Accord. Both hold open stay assemblies are gone bad. I bought P/N 74195-SDB-A02, the delaer told me that they are improved replacements. However, the connection on the new ones are different from the old parts. The old rods are connected to the car by ball joints and I cannot remove it. How do I do this? The new parts have a clip that makes it easier to install.

My info appears to show that threaded stud comes off with the bottom connection.

If you have to, use a die-grinder and cut that bottom support piece loose. Don't hurt that ball stud.

There should be a spring clip at end of the joint. Prying the clip would allow the ball stud to be freed of the stay assy. The new stay can be pushed onto the ball stud and it would self lock, as you can see from the spring band on the new stay.
