Hey. I have a 2004 Ford Mustang Coupe 40th Anniversary Edition V6 3.8L. Several months ago I went to
Napa Auto Parts and bought me "Street Glow" headlights for $35.00, they were nice with the bright blue/white HID look. They were hot though, about 100/50 watts I believe. After driving with them for some time, I noticed only on high beam the lights would flicker periodically, I figured they were too hot so I always left the high beam off after that. Then after a month, the normal beam would flicker. Note: Only the headlights would flicker, not the dash lights or anything else, I would drive for maybe 10-20 minutes and they would flicker randomly sometimes without end or sometimes a few times and then returning to normal. If I took my headlights off completely for a few minutes, they would not flicker again for another 5-20 minutes. Some nights it would not flicker at all. So finally I took them out and put the stock lights back in. I also put in brand new high temp pig tails cause the originals looked kinda burned. My father helped me with the wiring so everything is correct and as far as my alternator, battery, spark plugs, etc all of them are in tip top shape after checking and are fairly new. Yet now the stock lights are doing the same thing flickering in the same fashion as I described with the street glow lights. I don't know what could be the problem and I rather get a clue of what is wrong rather than pay money for shops to figure out what the problem is when I can simply pay for the repair. Any help is appreciated thank you. & Sorry for the length.I just wanted to be detailed. Oh and one more thing.I do have a 12 sub in my trunk and a kicker amp BUT.I doubt that could be the problem, it never caused problems with my lights before, my light problems have only gone on ever since I got those street glows, I even unplugged my amp to see if it would stop my stocks from flickering but no luck.

If you really want to do this yourself you need a voltmeter, when the light flicker obviously you got a bad connection as a result the problem will be in three places, the wire harness especially the connection male and female, you may be able to fix this simply by disconnecting and reconnecting the headlamp connection, Now the headlamp ground, a bad connection there will cause the flicker, Its the blackwire on the headlamp wire. The other player are the multifunction switch and the headlampswitch. 100/50 that a lot of power for a switch to handle.

I agree, you may have damaged the headlight switch from the draw.

If you want to use those lights, you need to make them work with a relay to take the load off the headlight switch.

The connection on the headlights. Did you solder and shrink wrap the connections?
