How do I change the air fliter on my 2004 freestar ? I have flipped the clips holding the filter box but unit is extremely tight. Have I missed something ?

you may have to lift duct work up a little to get to air filter Item 7: Air Cleaner Cover Removal Note

NOTE: No tools are needed to remove the air cleaner cover. Removal should be carried out using hands only.

Release the clamps and separate the air cleaner cover from the air cleaner tray.
Item 7: Air Cleaner Cover Installation Note

NOTE: No tools are needed to install the air cleaner cover. Installation should be carried out using hands only.

Use the alignment notches to correctly align the air cleaner cover to the air cleaner tray.
